Plastic & Compost Project

Snapshot
Want to contribute to the families of Amed while also learning something invaluable? Team up with local guides and community officials to teach and work with the locals to use the organic wastes strewn around the dried up river beds to enrich the lands for better crop yield.
What You Will Do
• Your experience will be a day of hands on work activity with the children and community members.
• Visit with the head of the community/Banjar Nyoman to discuss the environmental problems, and spiritual obstacles in the small Banjar.
• Assist in the clean-up of plastic rubbish and organic material in the dried local river beds.
• Lend a hand in the newly established compost project with Pak Bamboo’s 40 grandchildren. Learn how this will help in a permaculture activity in this very dry region of Bali.
• Learn from the grandfather and the children how to cut, weave and turn bamboo into a home for shelter. Enjoy a Box Lunch prepared by my cousin.
• Visit the Sacred Banyan tree to make an offering for its assistance in what we are doing for the environment.
Why We Do This
Amed is one of the driest regions of Bali and the people are very poor as agriculture is limited. They mostly are able to grow corn for a few months of the year. If you are passionate about the environment, join me in educating Bali’s next generation.
